Collecting in person
Collect on the phone, kiosk, check scanning, hand-ins
- Collect on your phone (door to door, events) and the lobby kiosk
Collect is a phone-sized screen for taking cash, checks, charity cards and Zelle on the go — pick the person, type the amount, tap how they paid, Save. The kiosk is a tablet in the lobby where people tap an amount and pay by card.
8 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - A collector's first day with Collect
Everything a new collector or gabbai needs on day one: sign in, put Yahiv on the home screen, collect, and hand in at the end.
7 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - Invite a collector (Fundraiser login)
Give a collector, meshulach or volunteer their own login. They see only what you allow — often only their own gifts.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Collecting without signal
In a basement, a hall or a wedding with no signal, keep collecting as usual. Gifts are saved on the phone and sent the moment there's signal — each one exactly once.
6 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - End-of-shift hand-in (for collectors)
At the end of the day, count the cash and checks you collected and hand them in. Yahiv shows what it expects, and an admin confirms what arrived.
6 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - Confirm a collector's hand-in (and when it doesn't match)
Admins count what arrived and confirm. If it's different from what was collected, Yahiv keeps the difference on record with your note.
6 steps · Owners & admins - Take a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in person
Two ways: a Stripe card reader (the donor taps their card or phone), or a QR code the donor scans and pays on their own phone.
5 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - Connect a card reader
Connect a Stripe smart reader (BBPOS WisePOS E or Stripe Reader S700) once, by typing the pairing code it shows.
5 steps · Owners & admins - Set up the lobby giving kiosk
Turn any tablet into a giving kiosk: big "Tap to give" buttons, card payment, and it resets itself after a minute.
5 steps · Owners & admins - Scan checks
Upload photos of up to 25 checks at once. Yahiv reads each one (amount, check #, date, who it's from, memo) and suggests the person — you confirm and it's recorded as a check waiting to be deposited.
5 steps · Office staff - Scan a whole stack of checks (after Shabbos, after an appeal)
A fast routine for a pile of checks: photograph, upload in groups of 25, confirm each, and take them to the bank.
5 steps · Office staff - A scanned check was read wrong
Reading handwriting isn't perfect. Fix the amount before you record — or fix the gift afterwards.
5 steps · Office staff - Pledges from a photo of the list (aliyos, pledge cards)
Take a picture of the gabbai's aliyos list, dinner pledge cards or any handwritten list. Yahiv reads each line — name (English or Hebrew), amount and honor — and finds the person. You check every line before saving.
5 steps · Office staff - Pushkas (tzedakah boxes)
Keep track of every pushka in homes, stores and the shul: where it is, who keeps it, when it was last emptied and how much it brings in.
4 steps · Office staff - Set up a pushka and print its QR label
Add each box with a number and place, then print stickers with the box number and a QR code to give online.
5 steps · Office staff - Empty a pushka
When you empty a box, record how much was in it. It becomes a cash gift waiting to be deposited, and the box's totals update.
4 steps · Office staff - Collection routes (Purim): plan the day
Pick who to visit and how many cars. Yahiv puts everyone on a map, splits them into routes of about the same size, and orders each route for driving. Each driver gets a link.
7 steps · Office staff - Collection routes: running the day (for drivers)
Drivers open their link, drive stop to stop with Google Maps or Waze, and mark each stop "Visited" with what was given. At the end, the office turns it all into gifts.
5 steps · Fundraisers & collectors - Fundraiser / meshulach commissions
Set each fundraiser's percentage. Yahiv works out what each one earned on the gifts credited to them, and what you still owe after payouts.
6 steps · Owners & admins - Yahiv on your phone (Add to Home Screen, notifications)
Put Yahiv on your phone's home screen so it opens like an app, and turn on notifications for new gifts and alerts.
4 steps · Everyone - The Yahiv app from the App Store / Google Play
Yahiv is also a real iPhone / Android app — the same Yahiv, with the phone's own notifications, the camera for checks, and Face ID / fingerprint sign-in.
