A collector's first day with Collect
Everything a new collector or gabbai needs on day one: sign in, put Yahiv on the home screen, collect, and hand in at the end.
Before you start
- The office invited you (you got an email from Yahiv). If not, ask them — see "Invite a collector".
- 1
Sign in on your phone
Open the invitation email on your phone and follow the link. Choose a password. Keep the sign-in saved on this phone.
- 2
Put Yahiv on your home screen
iPhone: Share → "Add to Home Screen". Android: the menu → "Install app". Now it opens like an app. (Or install the Yahiv app from the App Store / Google Play.)
- 3
Open Collect once with signal
Tap Record → "Collect (phone)" while you have signal. This keeps a list of people on your phone, so you can search even without signal later.
Open Collect once with signal before you go out. - 4
Practice one gift
Pick yourself, type $1, tap Cash, untick the receipt, and Save. Ask the office to void it — or just tell them.
Untick the receipt for a practice gift. - 5
Collect for real
At each home: Who → Amount → Cash / Check / Charity card / Zelle → Save. Take a photo of each check.
- 6
Watch your total
Under the form, "Today" shows your total and each gift.
Your total for today. - 7
Hand in at the end
Count your cash and checks, fill in "Hand in" at the bottom and press "Close my shift & hand in".

Tips
- Never write a card number on paper. For a card, use the card reader or "Show a QR code".
- If something goes wrong, keep going and write it in the note — the office can fix it later.
If something isn't working
You can't find a person.
Try their phone number or Hebrew name. Still nothing? Add them with "Not in the list? Add them".
"Nothing here is open to your login" or a missing menu.
Your login doesn't have permission to record gifts. Ask an admin (Settings → Team & roles).
