Pledges & recurring
Commitments, payment plans and monthly giving
- Take a pledge (commitment) or מתנה בלי נדר
Record money someone promised to give — a pledge, or a מתנה בלי נדר from an aliyah. It stays open with a balance until it's paid, and you can send reminders with a pay link.
7 steps · Office staff - Record a מתנה בלי נדר from an aliyah
After Shabbos, enter what each person gave “bli neder” for their aliyah or mi shebeirach so it's billed and paid like any commitment.
5 steps · Office staff - Take a payment toward a pledge
When someone pays what they owe — all of it or part — record it so the balance goes down and they get a receipt.
4 steps · Office staff - Move a payment to another pledge
A payment was applied to the wrong commitment, or not applied at all. Change it on the gift's page and both balances fix themselves.
3 steps · Office staff - Change a pledge's amount, due date or campaign
The donor raised their pledge, or you typed the wrong amount? Change the commitment's details on its page.
3 steps · Office staff - They promised to pay by a date
When a donor says “I'll pay after Pesach”, mark the commitment “Promised” with that date. Reminders wait until then, and pick up the day after if it isn't paid.
5 steps · Office staff - Put a pledge on a payment plan
Let a donor pay a big pledge over several months. With a card, Yahiv charges it each month and stops when the pledge is paid. Paying by check each month? Mark it “Payment plan” so reminders stop.
6 steps · Office staff - Write off a pledge that won't be paid
When you've given up on collecting the rest of a pledge, write it off. The balance comes off every total, but the pledge and its history stay on record.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Cancel a pledge (and restore it)
Cancel a commitment that was entered by mistake or that the donor took back. It stops counting as owed and can be restored later.
3 steps · Owners & admins - Move a pledge to another person
The pledge was put on the husband but the wife is paying, or on the wrong account. Move the commitment — and the payments made on it — to the right person.
3 steps · Owners & admins - One pledge shared by several people
Brothers pledging together for a parent, partners, or a husband and wife: put several people on one commitment. Either they pay it down together, or each owes their own share.
5 steps · Office staff - Send a pledge reminder with a pay link
Text, email or WhatsApp a reminder with a secure link where the donor sees the balance and pays by card — for one commitment or many at once.
4 steps · Office staff - Get a pledge signed (signed pledge forms)
Send the donor a link to read the terms and sign the pledge with a finger or mouse. The signed PDF is kept on the commitment. You can also offer a public form where people pledge and sign at once.
5 steps · Office staff - Pledge numbers (PL1024)
Each new pledge gets a number with your letters, like PL1024, so it never clashes with numbers brought in from another system. Change the letters if you like.
3 steps · Owners & admins - Start a recurring gift (monthly, weekly, installments)
Charge a donor's card automatically every week, month, quarter or year — ongoing, for a set number of payments, or until a pledge is paid.
7 steps · Office staff - Skip one recurring month (or push a charge to another date)
The donor asks to skip a month, or to be charged after Pesach. Skip moves every remaining charge — including the last — one period later. Nothing is lost from the total.
4 steps · Office staff - Change the card on a recurring gift
The donor has a new card. Save it on their page and switch the recurring gift to it — or send them a link to put in the new card themselves.
4 steps · Office staff - A recurring gift keeps declining
When a monthly charge is declined, Yahiv tries again on your retry days and lets you know. A card that can't work (expired, closed) isn't retried — the donor is asked for a new card right away.
5 steps · Office staff - End a recurring gift early (cancel or pause)
Stop a recurring gift for good, pause it for a while, or let it end after a certain number of payments.
