Change the card on a recurring gift

The donor has a new card. Save it on their page and switch the recurring gift to it — or send them a link to put in the new card themselves.

Save the new card on the person
Open the person → “Saved payment methods” → “+ Add card”, type the new card and click “Save card”.

Open the recurring gift
Open it and find the “Change” box.

Pick the new card
In “Card”, choose the new card and click “Save changes”.

Or let the donor do it
Go to Giving → Recurring → “Need a new card” (the Card recovery page). Next to the person click “Send update link”, or “copy link” to read it to them. Their recurring gifts move to the new card by themselves, and stopped ones start again.

Tips

Yahiv emails donors by itself before a card used for recurring gifts expires.
You can remove the old card afterwards — not before, while a recurring gift still uses it.

The new card isn't in the Card list.

Save it on the person first (“+ Add card”), then reload the recurring gift's page.

It says “This card is used by active schedule #…” when removing the old card.

Switch the recurring gift to the new card first.
