Take a pledge (commitment) or מתנה בלי נדר
Record money someone promised to give — a pledge, or a מתנה בלי נדר from an aliyah. It stays open with a balance until it's paid, and you can send reminders with a pay link.

Open Record → Commitment
Click “Record” at the top right → “Commitment”. Or on the person's page click “Commit”. The “A commitment” box is already chosen at the top of the form.

Pick the person and amount
In “Person”, type the name and click the person. Type the amount promised.

Type, occasion and dates
Choose the Type: “Pledge” or “מתנה בלי נדר”. Type the Occasion (for example “Aliyah — Shabbos Noach” or “Building campaign”). “Date made” is today unless you change it. Set a “Due date” if they said when they'll pay.

Optionally pick the Campaign, Designation, Location and Fundraiser, and add an Internal note.

Let them know (optional)
Tick “Text them a reminder with a pay link” and/or “Email them” to send it right away.

Save
Click “Save commitment”. You land on the commitment's page with its number (for example PL1024), the amount, paid and balance.

What you can do from the commitment
“Record payment”, “Pay in installments”, send a reminder by Text, WhatsApp or Email, copy the donor pay link, get it signed, add people to share it, change the details, move it to another person, or cancel it.

Tips
- A person can have many open commitments; the gift form lets you choose which one a payment goes toward.
- New pledges are numbered with your letters (see “Pledge numbers”). Imported pledges keep their old numbers.
- Many pledges at once from a handwritten aliyos list? Use Record → Pledge list photo.
- Alt+C opens this form from anywhere.
If something isn't working
It says “Choose a donor”.
Click the person in the drop-down list under Person — typing the name alone isn't enough.
It says “Enter a valid amount”.
Type a number above 0.
The reminder didn't go out.
The person may have no cell / email or opted out, or you aren't connected to texting/email yet (Settings → Email, SMS & WhatsApp).
