Put a pledge on a payment plan
Let a donor pay a big pledge over several months. With a card, Yahiv charges it each month and stops when the pledge is paid. Paying by check each month? Mark it “Payment plan” so reminders stop.
- 1
Click “Pay in installments”
Open the commitment and click “Pay in installments” at the top. The recurring gift form opens with “Pay down a commitment” already set to this pledge.
Pay in installments. - 2
Amount and how often
Type the “Amount each payment”, choose the Frequency (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly) and “Every” (for example every 1 month). Pick the date of the “First charge”.
How much and how often. - 3
Number of payments
Type the “# of payments”, or leave it blank — a plan paying a commitment stops by itself when it's paid; the last charge is only what's left.
- 4
Card
Under “Card to charge each time”, pick a saved card or type a new one.
- 5
Start it
Click “Start recurring gift”. If the first charge is today, it's charged right away. The commitment now shows the plan under “Payments applied”.
- 6
No card? Mark it
If they'll send a check every month instead, open the commitment's “Collecting” box, choose Status “Payment plan” and Save, so automatic reminders stop.
Status: Payment plan.
Tips
- The plan's page shows every upcoming charge and the date of the last payment.
- If they pay extra one month, tick “Skip the next recurring charge for this commitment” on that gift.
If something isn't working
It says “Choose a saved card or enter a new one”.
A card plan needs a card. Pick a saved card or fill in a new card.
It says “Enter a valid amount”.
Each payment must be at least $0.50.
I don't see “Pay in installments”.
It's for staff and admins, and only while there's a balance.
