Save a credit card or bank account on a person

Keep a card or bank account on file so you can charge future gifts or recurring payments without asking for the number again. Nothing is charged when you save it.

Before you start

  • A card processor is connected (Settings → Payment processors).
  • Your login can record gifts.
  1. 1

    Open the person

Open the person's page and find “Saved payment methods” on the left. Click “+ Add card”.

“+ Add card” in Saved payment methods.
  2. 2

    Choose card or bank

On “Add a card or bank account”, choose the Processor if you have more than one, then “Card” or “Bank account (ACH)”.

    Card or bank account.
  3. 3

    Type the details

Check the “Name on card / account” and type the card number, expiration and security code (or the routing and account number). The numbers go straight to your processor — Yahiv never sees or stores them.

  4. 4

    Save the card

Click “Save card”. You return to the person with “Card saved”. The card shows as brand and last 4 digits, with its expiration.

  5. 5

    Remove a card

Click “Remove” next to the card and confirm.

Saved cards with a Remove link.

Tips

  • When you charge a new card on the gift form, “Save for future charges” is ticked by default — so the card is saved then too.
  • Saved cards are offered first on the gift form and for recurring gifts.
  • Donors can update their own card from a link — see “Change the card on a recurring gift”.

If something isn't working

It says “This card is used by active schedule #…”.

A recurring gift still uses this card. Move the recurring gift to another card (or cancel it) first, then remove the card.

There's no “+ Add card” link.

Your login can't record gifts. Ask an admin for “Can view & record” on Gifts.

The processor list is empty.

Connect a processor under Settings → Payment processors (Stripe, Sola, NMI or USAePay).
