A recurring gift keeps declining
When a monthly charge is declined, Yahiv tries again on your retry days and lets you know. A card that can't work (expired, closed) isn't retried — the donor is asked for a new card right away.
- 1
Where you see it
Home → “Needs attention” shows “Retrying $… from …” and “…'s recurring gift stopped”. The bell has an alert. Giving → Recurring shows “Need a new card”.
Need a new card. - 2
Open Card recovery
Click “Need a new card”. Each declined gift shows where it stands: “Will try again …”, “Needs a new card” or “Stopped”, with the bank's reason and how many tries.

Ask for a new card
Click “Send update link”, or “copy link” and read it to the donor on the phone. When they put in a new card, the gift moves to it and starts again by itself.
- 4
Or fix it yourself
Save the new card on the person, then on the recurring gift choose it under “Change” → Card → “Save changes”, and click “Resume”.
Switch to the new card. - 5
Charge now (admins)
Admins can click “Charge next payment now” to try right away instead of waiting.
Tips
- Retry days are set under Settings → Collecting & reminders → “Retry after (days)” — for example 3, 5, 7.
- Donors are emailed automatically after a decline (at most weekly).
- The Card recovery page shows how much you recovered in the last 30 days.
If something isn't working
The gift says “Stopped” after several tries.
All retries failed. Get a new card, switch to it, and click “Resume”.
“Charge next payment now” says “Not due” or shows the bank's error.
Read the error under “Last attempt failed”. It's usually the card — get a new one.
