End a recurring gift early (cancel or pause)

Stop a recurring gift for good, pause it for a while, or let it end after a certain number of payments.

Open the recurring gift
Open it from Giving → Recurring or the person's Recurring tab.
The recurring gift's page.

Stop it for good
Click “Cancel” at the top right and confirm “Cancel this schedule? No more charges will run.”
Cancel stops all future charges.

Or pause it
Click “Pause”. No charges run until you click “Resume”.

Or end after a set number
In “Change”, type the “Total # of payments” (for example 6) and click “Save changes”. The page shows the date of the last payment.

Tips

Payments already made stay as they are. To give money back, refund the gift.
Cancelled gifts are under Giving → Recurring → “Cancelled”.
A plan paying a commitment ends by itself when the commitment is paid, written off or cancelled.

I cancelled by mistake.

A cancelled recurring gift can't be resumed. Start a new one with the same card (Record → Recurring gift).

The total number of payments won't go lower.

It can't be lower than the payments already made.
