Getting started
Set up your organization and learn your way around
- Getting started: find your way around Yahiv
A plain map of Yahiv: what is on the top bar, where the Record button is, how to find a person, and where Settings live. Read this first if Yahiv is new to you.
8 steps · Everyone - Your first day: a 15-minute tour
A short walk through the things you will do every day: find a person, record a gift, take a pledge, check what needs attention. Do it once with the sample data and you will feel at home.
7 steps · Everyone - Set up your organization profile (name, address, EIN, colors)
Your organization's name, Hebrew name, address, tax ID and receipt wording appear on every receipt and public page. Fill them in once before you send your first receipt.
7 steps · Owners & admins - The “Getting started” checklist before you go live
Yahiv keeps a checklist of the ten things to set up before you start using it for real. Most steps tick themselves off as you do them.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Sample data and your free trial
New accounts can start with a fictional shul full of sample people, gifts and pledges so you can practise. When you're ready, remove it in one click. Your trial needs no card.
5 steps · Owners & admins - Quick search and keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+K)
Press Ctrl+K anywhere to jump to a person, a pledge number, a receipt number or any page by typing a few letters. Handy keys save even more clicks.
4 steps · Everyone - Search, filter and sort any list
Every list in Yahiv (People, Gifts, Commitments, Recurring and more) has the same search box, date choice, Filters and Sort. Learn it once and use it everywhere.
6 steps · Everyone - Use Yahiv in Hebrew or Yiddish
Switch Yahiv's screens to עברית or אידיש (right to left) just for yourself. Your choice is remembered; nobody else's screen changes.
3 steps · Everyone - Several organizations under one login
Run a shul, a yeshiva and a chesed fund from one login. Each organization has its own people, money, team and settings; you switch between them from your avatar menu.
3 steps · Owners & admins - Branches: an umbrella over several shuls or schools
When one organization oversees several shuls or schools, link them as branches. The umbrella sees each branch's totals — never their donors — and each branch keeps working on its own.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Your own web address for giving (add-on)
With the add-on, your giving page lives at your own address like give.yourshul.org instead of a Yahiv address. You add one record where you bought your domain.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Your Yahiv web address (yourname.yahiv.com)
Every Yahiv account gets its own short web address, like ohrchaim.yahiv.com, that opens your giving page. It's ready by itself — nothing to set up.
4 steps · Owners & admins - Turn off the parts of Yahiv you don't use
A simpler Yahiv for everyone: turn off parts like Shul programs, Chesed & gemach or the Big screen if your organization doesn't use them. Nothing is deleted.
3 steps · Owners & admins - Why don't I see a part of Yahiv?
Each Yahiv account has its own set of parts (features). If a menu, page or button you expected isn't there, your account may not have that part yet — Yahiv can add it.
