Your own web address for giving (add-on)
With the add-on, your giving page lives at your own address like give.yourshul.org instead of a Yahiv address. You add one record where you bought your domain.
Before you start
- You own a domain (for example yourshul.org) and can log in where you bought it.
- 1
Open Own web address
Go to Settings → Own web address. If you don't have the add-on yet, click “I'd like this — contact me” and Yahiv will turn it on for you.
Settings → Own web address. - 2
Type the address
Once the add-on is active, type the address you want in “Web address” (for example give.yourshul.org) and click “Save”.
Type your web address. - 3
Add the DNS record
Yahiv shows one record to add, with its type, name and value. For an address like give.yourshul.org it's a CNAME with the name “give” and the value shown on the page. Add it exactly like that where you bought the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare…). Your address is then protected by Cloudflare against attacks and robots, and gets its own security certificate (the lock in the browser) by itself.
- 4
Check it
Click “Check it now”. When it shows “working”, your giving page and all public pages (dedications, sponsorships, forms, receipts) work on your address.
Tips
- A sub-address like give.yourshul.org is easiest — your main website is not touched.
- DNS changes can take up to an hour to be seen. Try “Check it now” again later.
- The add-on price shows on Settings → Plan & billing.
If something isn't working
It still says “waiting for the DNS record”.
Make sure the record name is exactly the first part (for example “give”) and the value is exactly what the page shows. Wait an hour, then click “Check it now”.
My domain company won't let me add a CNAME for the bare domain (yourshul.org).
Use a sub-address like give.yourshul.org instead — every company allows that.
I don't know where my domain was bought.
Ask whoever made your website, or look for a yearly domain renewal email.
