Zelle: a payment "needs a person"
When Yahiv can't tell for sure who sent a Zelle, it waits for you under "Needs a person" — with its best guesses ready to tap.
Before you start
- Owner or Admin (only they can open the Zelle inbox).
- 1
Open the waiting ones
Settings → Zelle inbox → "Open inbox · 2 to match", then the "Needs a person" tab. Or click the "Zelle to match" alert.
Payments Yahiv couldn't match for sure. - 2
Open one
Click its subject. You see the amount, "Zelle from", the memo and the confirmation number.
Click a subject to open it. - 3
Tap a suggestion
Under "Who it's likely from" each guess shows a percentage and why (e.g. "gave this exact amount 3 times before"). Press "Yes, record on …" if it's right.
- 4
Or pick the person yourself
Under "Who sent this?" search the person, check the amount, and if it pays a pledge type its number in "Apply to pledge". Keep "Remember this Zelle name for this person" ticked. Press "Record gift".
- 5
Done
You see "Recorded — receipt #…". Next time the same Zelle name is recorded on that person automatically.
Recorded payments, with the person they went on. - 6
Not a payment?
If it's not money (a notice or a duplicate), press "Mark as handled".
Tips
- Unknown sender? Add them as a new person from the person search, then record.
- Spouses often send from their own Zelle — pick the household member you track the giving on.
If something isn't working
"This one is already recorded".
Someone else recorded it a moment ago. Open the Recorded tab.
"This message has no amount — record it with the form below".
The bank email didn't show an amount Yahiv could read. Type the amount in the form and press Record gift.
"Recorded … pledge not applied" (shown in red).
The pledge number isn't this person's (or shared with them). The gift is recorded; open it and pick the right commitment under "Applied toward commitment".
