What to do with a bank deposit marked "not found"
A "not found" deposit is money in the bank that Yahiv couldn't connect to anything. Here's how to work out what it is.
- 1
Read what the bank says
Look at the "Bank says" text — it often names the sender (ZELLE FROM…, a DAF like FIDELITY CHARITABLE, a processor like STRIPE).
The bank's description is the best clue. - 2
Is it a card processor deposit?
If it's from Stripe or another processor, it's a batch of card gifts minus fees. Mark it "It's fine" with a note, and check it on Insights → "Payouts".
Card deposits are checked on Payouts. - 3
Is it a Zelle?
Check Settings → Zelle inbox → "Needs a person" — the Zelle may be waiting for you to pick who sent it.
Zelles waiting for a person. - 4
Is it a cash/check deposit?
Open Giving → Deposits. Maybe the checks weren't marked deposited, or one check is missing from the batch, so the total doesn't match.
Mark checks and cash as deposited. - 5
Is it a gift nobody recorded?
Press "Record gift". The amount is filled in — choose the person and payment type, and save. Then press "Match again".
- 6
Not a donation?
Interest, a refund from a vendor, a transfer between your accounts: press "Not a donation".
Tips
- Pressing "undo" on any matched or marked line puts it back to "not found".
- Add a short note before "It's fine" so your bookkeeper knows why.
If something isn't working
Two gifts of the same amount — it matched the wrong one.
Press "undo" on the line and record or match it by hand.
A DAF grant shows a different amount than the donor's gift.
Some funds take a fee or combine grants. Record what actually arrived, with a note.
