Remove a person (and bring them back)

Remove people who shouldn't be in your list, like test entries. They go to the Recycle bin for 30 days and can be brought back.

Before you start

  • You are an Owner or Admin.
  1. 1

    Tick the people

On People, tick the box next to each person you want to remove.

    Tick the people to remove.
  2. 2

    Click “Remove”

Click “Remove” in the bar above the list. You see “… donor(s) moved to the recycle bin (Settings → Recycle bin to restore)”.

“Remove” moves them to the Recycle bin.
  3. 3

    Bring someone back

Go to Settings → Recycle bin and click “Restore” next to the person. Or on People click “Recently removed” on the left, open the person and click “Bring back”.

    Restore from the Recycle bin.

Tips

  • Someone who passed away or asked not to be contacted should usually be kept, not removed — see “Someone passed away or asked not to be contacted”.
  • After 30 days, removed people with no gifts or pledges are deleted for good. People with history stay on file so receipts and totals never break.
  • For two records of the same person, merge instead of removing — see “Merge two duplicate records”.

If something isn't working

It says “Sent for approval — a second admin has to approve deleting them”.

Your organization uses two-person approval for deletions. Another Owner or Admin approves it under Approvals.

I don't see the “Remove” button.

Only Owners and Admins can remove people.
