Texts aren't going out
When texts don't arrive, it's usually one of six things: the person opted out (or replied STOP), no cell phone, your contact limit, Shabbos, texting isn't set up, or a STOP block on the shared number.
- 1
Look at "Recent messages"
Open Outreach. On the right, "Recent messages" shows the latest texts with a status. A red error explains a failure.
Each message's status and any error. - 2
Check "Before you send"
Before a bulk text, "Left out:" lists "No cell phone", "Asked for no texts" and "Reached the contact limit". Click "who" for names.
Why people were left out. - 3
Opt-outs and STOP
On the person, is "Do not text" ticked? Replying STOP ticks it by itself. If they want texts again, they reply START (or you untick it — only if they agreed).
"Do not text" is ticked by a STOP reply too. - 4
The shared number
If you use Yahiv's shared number and a person once replied STOP to it, the phone company blocks texts from that number to them. Ask them to text START to the same number.
- 5
Contact limit
Settings → "Collecting & reminders" → "Contact limit". People who reached it are left out of broadcasts and reminders (receipts still go).
Your weekly and monthly limits. - 6
Shabbos and Yom Tov
With the Shabbos guard on, texts wait and go out after havdalah. The bulk send note says "… will go out after Shabbos / Yom Tov".
Is it Shabbos now? - 7
Is texting working?
If the send note says "logged only — connect … Twilio", no texting is available. Look at Settings → Email, SMS & WhatsApp → "Text messages": with "Use Yahiv's texting number" the note shows the number texts come from — or, in yellow, that it isn't switched on yet. With "Use my own Twilio account", check the Account SID, Auth token and From number.
Yahiv's texting number, or your own Twilio account. - 8
Long or Hebrew texts
Hebrew, Yiddish or emoji make each text piece 70 characters instead of 160. Long texts still go, but cost more. Check "Before you send" for the piece count.
How many pieces each text takes.
Tips
- Texts to landlines don't arrive — check it's a cell number.
- Bulk messages can be sent 30 times an hour per organization.
If something isn't working
A failure says "SMS provider: …".
That's the phone company's answer. A wrong or landline number is the most common cause. Fix the number on the person.
Only one person isn't getting texts.
Open them: check the cell number, "Do not text", and whether they replied STOP (their messages show it).
Still stuck after all these checks?
Press the help button and ask Yahiv, or write to Yahiv support with what you tried and a screenshot. Nobody minds — that's what support is for.
