The phone line didn't take the card
On the phone giving line, callers type their card on the keypad. If it didn't work, it's usually a typing mistake, a declined card, card entry not set up, or the line closed for Shabbos.
- 1
Did a gift come in?
Search Giving for the caller. Phone gifts are marked as "Pay by phone". A declined card shows "Declined" with a reason.
Look for the caller's gift. - 2
Typing on the keypad
Callers type the card number, expiration date, ZIP code and security code when asked. They get two tries. Going slowly helps.
- 3
"We didn't get a code. Goodbye."
On the shared Yahiv line, callers first type your code number then #. Settings → "Phone giving line" shows both the number and your code.
Your line's number, code and options. - 4
Is card entry set up?
Without card entry on calls, callers who choose an amount get a text with a secure link to pay instead. The page says if you need to set it up (for example "reconnect Stripe").
Card entry on the call. - 5
Shabbos closing
If "Close the giving page, kiosk, sponsorship page and phone line too" is on, the line doesn't take gifts on Shabbos and Yom Tov.
Closes the phone line too. - 6
Try another way
Offer the text link (option 3 on the line) or the giving page.
Tips
- The card goes straight to your processor — Yahiv never stores the number.
- Call your own line once a month to make sure it works.
If something isn't working
Callers hear "We didn't get a choice. Goodbye."
They waited too long. Ask them to press a number right after the menu.
The gift went to the wrong campaign.
Set "Campaign for phone gifts" on Settings → Phone giving line.
