A donor says they didn't get the text
Most missing texts have a simple reason — the person said STOP, the number is wrong, a limit was reached, or it's Shabbos. Here's how to check, step by step.
- 1
Open the person
People → search the name → open their profile.
- 2
Look at the timeline
Their timeline lists every text: "Text: …" with a status — "Sent", "Not delivered", "Held for Shabbos" or "Logged only".
Undelivered messages also show as alerts. - 3
Check the cell number
Click Edit and check "Cell phone". A home phone can't get texts. Fix it and save.
The cell phone box on the person's form. - 4
Check "Do not text"
If "Do not text" is ticked, they once texted STOP (or someone ticked it). Ask them to text START to the number, or untick it with their OK.
Contact choices on the person's form. - 5
Held for Shabbos?
"Held for Shabbos" means it goes out after havdalah by itself.
- 6
Hit the contact limit?
A reminder may say "Not sent — this person already heard from you as often as allowed". Receipts don't count toward the limit. Settings → Collecting & reminders shows the limit.
Your contact limit. - 7
Resend
For a receipt: open the gift and press "Text receipt". For a reply: Outreach → Messages → the conversation → write and Send.
Open the gift to resend its receipt.
Tips
- "Logged only" means texting isn't connected for your account — tell Yahiv support.
- If the timeline says Sent but they still don't see it, ask them to check their blocked/spam texts.
If something isn't working
Status "Not delivered".
The carrier refused it: a landline, a wrong number, or a phone that blocks short-code/business texts. Confirm the number with them.
They never got their sign-in code.
Codes go to the email or cell on their record. Ask them to try the other one, or fix their details in People.
