Send a recorded phone call to a group
Call a whole group with a message read aloud by a computer voice — or play a recording you made — for example to announce a time change.
Before you start
- Phone calls are set up (your own Twilio, or Yahiv's shared line).
- 1
Choose the group
In Outreach pick the group and press "Choose audience".
Choose who to call. - 2
Click "Phone call"
Click "Phone call". People are called on their cell, or their home phone if there's no cell.
Calls go to cell or home phone. - 3
Type what should be said
Type the message. It's read aloud twice when they answer. Write numbers and times the way you'd say them, for example "seven thirty".
The message is read twice. - 4
Or play a recording
To play your own voice, put the recording online and paste its link (https://…mp3) in the box below the message.
Paste a link to an mp3 to play it instead. - 5
Check cost and who is left out
"Before you send" shows the estimated cost (about one minute per person) and who is left out, such as "Asked not to be called".
Cost and who is left out. - 6
Send
Tick "Send to … donors now" and press "Send calls".
Confirm and send the calls.
Tips
- People with the tag "do-not-call" are never called.
- Calls wait over Shabbos and Yom Tov when the Shabbos guard is on.
- Keep it under 30 seconds — people hang up on long calls.
If something isn't working
"Audio link must be https".
The recording's link must start with https://.
Nobody got a call and the note says "logged only".
Calls aren't set up yet. An admin connects Twilio in Settings → Email, SMS & WhatsApp.
