Email a campaign appeal with each person's name filled in
Send an appeal email to a group — for example everyone who gave last year — that greets each person by name and includes their own giving link.
Before you start
- Email is set up under Settings → Email, SMS & WhatsApp.
- For a nicer look, make a design first under Outreach → Email designs (optional).

Open Outreach and choose the group
Click "Outreach". In the first box choose the group, for example "Gave this year" or "LYBUNT", or pick a tag. Press "Choose audience".

Click "Email"
Click "Email". It shows how many people have an email address and accept email.
Switch to Email. - 3
Plain or designed
If you have email designs, a box appears: keep "Plain email (write below)" or choose "Designed: …" to send one of your designs.
Pick a design, or write a plain email. - 4
Write the subject
Type the subject, for example "{{first_name}}, will you join us again this year?". Fill-ins work in the subject too.

Write the appeal
Write your message. Use the "Insert:" buttons: "First name", "Given this year", "Lifetime total", "Their own giving link" and "Suggested ask amount". Each person sees their own numbers.

Check the preview and "Before you send"
Read "Preview for first recipient". Then check "Before you send": how many get it, and who is left out ("No email on file", "Asked for no email").

Send and follow up
Tick "Send to … donors now" and press "Send emails". Later, open Outreach → "Email results" to see how many opened and clicked.

Tips
- "Suggested ask amount" only fills in when "Use personal ask amounts" is on under Settings → Amounts & messages.
- Each person's giving link is their own, so their gift is recorded on the right person.
- Send yourself a test first: add yourself to People with a tag like "test", choose that tag, and send.
If something isn't working
It says "Email needs a subject".
Type a subject. With a design, the design's own subject is used when you leave it blank.
Emails go to spam.
Run Settings → Email delivery check. See "An email went to spam".
The note says messages were "logged only".
Email or texting isn't connected yet, so nothing really went out. An admin connects it in Settings → Email, SMS & WhatsApp — see "Messages say logged only".
