Before you start

  • A gemach loan (see "Give a gemach loan").
  1. 1

    Open the loan

Chesed & gemach → "Gemach (free loans)". Click the loan number in "Loans".

Loans are listed above "Give a loan".
  2. 2

    Find the payment

"Payments" lists each one: number, due date (red when late), amount, "Check held" and status.

Click a loan number under "Loans" to see its payments.
  3. 3

    Record it

On the payment's row, check the amount (change it for a part payment), choose how ("Check", "Cash", "Transfer", "Card") and click "Paid". You see "Payment recorded".

Open the loan; each payment row has an amount, a method and "Paid".
  4. 4

    Part payments

If they paid less, it stays "due" and shows "$… paid" under the amount. Record the rest later on the same row.

  5. 5

    Waive a payment

Click "Waive" to forgive it. It shows "waived" and no longer counts as owed.

  6. 6

    Mistake?

Click "undo" on a paid or waived payment to put it back to "due".

  7. 7

    Loan finished

When every payment is paid or waived, the loan shows "paid". You can also set "Not being paid (defaulted)" or "Forgiven" under "Borrower" and click Save.

A finished loan shows "paid" in the list.

Tips

  • The top line of the loan shows "paid back" and "still owed".
  • Deposit held checks on their dates — the gemach page lists "Post-dated checks to deposit (this week)".

If something isn't working

"How much was paid?"

The amount box was empty or 0. Type the amount and click "Paid".

After "undo" the amount box shows 0.00.

"undo" changes the status back but keeps what was paid. If the money really didn't come in and it was a held check, click "Bounced" to take it back.
