Tag people and use tags

Tags are short labels like “board”, “kiddush” or “young-couples”. Use them to find groups, filter lists, and send messages to just those people.

  1. 1

    Tag one person

Open the person → “Edit details” → under “Other”, type in “Tags (comma separated)”, for example “board, kiddush”. Click “Save changes”.

    Separate tags with commas.
  2. 2

    Tag many people at once

On People, tick the people you want (or the “Select” box at the top to tick the whole page). Type the tag in the “tag name” box and click “Add tag”. “Remove tag” takes it off.

Type a tag, then Add tag or Remove tag.
  3. 3

    See everyone with a tag

The left side of People lists your most-used tags with how many people have each. Click a tag to see only those people. Click it again to go back.

    Click a tag to filter.
  4. 4

    Combine tags

Open “Filters” → Tags, tick several tags, and in “With tags” choose “Any of the tags” or “All of the tags”. Click “Show results”.

    Pick several tags in Filters.
  5. 5

    Message a tag

With the tag selected, click “Message these … people” above the list to send them a text or email from Outreach.

    Message everyone with this tag.

Tips

  • Keep tags short and lower-case so they stay consistent: “kiddush”, not “Kiddush Sponsors 2026”.
  • A person can have up to 30 tags of up to 40 letters each.
  • Imports add the tag “imported”, and sample people have the tag “demo”.

If something isn't working

It says “Type a tag first”.

Type the tag name in the small “tag name” box before clicking Add tag or Remove tag.

It says “Select at least one donor”.

Tick the box next to at least one person first.

My tag isn't on the left side.

Only the 20 most-used tags show there. Use Filters → Tags to find any tag.
