Change the wording of receipts and other messages
Edit the receipt, pledge bill, recurring-failed message, statement cover and more — in English, Hebrew and Yiddish — with fill-ins like the donor's name and amount.
- 1
Open Message templates
Go to Settings → "Amounts & messages" and scroll to "Message templates". Each message has its own box: "Payment receipt", "Pledge bill / reminder", "מתנה בלי נדר message", "Recurring payment failed", "General message", "Giving statement cover message" and "Employer matching gift".
Each message has a text version and an email version. - 2
Pick the language tab
Each box has tabs: "English", "עברית" and "אידיש". Click a tab to edit that language. Ready-made wording is already there in all three.
Click עברית or אידיש to edit those versions. - 3
Edit the text message
Change the "Text message" box. Keep it short — texts cost more when they're long.

Edit the email

The email version of the receipt. - 5
Use fill-ins
Type fill-ins in double curly brackets: {{donor_name}}, {{donor_heb_name}}, {{amount}}, {{date}}, {{heb_date}}, {{receipt_no}}, {{receipt_link}}, {{org_name}}. For bills: {{pledge_amount}}, {{balance}}, {{occasion_line}}, {{pay_link}}. The full list is shown at the top of "Message templates".
- 6
Save
Press "Save settings" at the bottom. One Save keeps all three languages.
One Save keeps every language.
Tips
- In Hebrew and Yiddish, {{donor_name}} uses the person's Hebrew name when they have one, and {{org_name}} uses your Hebrew name from Profile & branding.
- To go back to the ready-made wording, clear the box and save — the default is used when a box is empty.
- The tax wording at the bottom of printed receipts is the "Receipt footer" in Settings → Profile & branding.
If something isn't working
A fill-in shows up as {{something}} or blank.
Check the spelling against the list at the top. Unknown fill-ins come out blank.
