Turn on and set up the phone giving line
Choose the greeting callers hear, which menu options they get, and which campaign phone gifts go to.
Before you start
- Owner (only the Owner can change these).
- A card processor is connected, so callers can type their card on the call.
- 1
Open Phone giving line
Settings → "Phone giving line".
The phone line settings. - 2
Write the greeting
In "Greeting (read aloud before the menu)" type, e.g. "Thank you for calling Congregation Bais Yosef." Empty = "Thank you for calling <your name>."
The greeting is read aloud first. - 3
Choose the menu
Under "Menu" untick options you don't want: 1 give, 2 pay a pledge, 3 text me a link, 4 leave a message.
- 4
Choose the campaign
"Campaign for phone gifts" — pick one, or leave "—".
Phone gifts can go to one campaign. - 5
Save and test
Press "Save". Call the number from your own phone, type your code and #, and go through the menu. Give $1 and refund it.
Whether card entry on the call is on. - 6
Tell your people
"To give by phone: call … and type 1043 then #." The exact sentence is in the box at the top.
Tips
- Using your own Twilio account? The page shows the extra setup steps (webhook and Pay connector).
- Keep the greeting short — callers hear it every time before the menu.
- Choose a campaign if you advertise the line for one appeal; change it back after.
If something isn't working
The boxes are greyed out.
Only the Owner can change them ("Only the Owner can change these.").
Callers can't type their card on the call.
Look at the line under the menu: it says whether card entry is on, and what to do if not (connect a processor, or reconnect Stripe).
