Set up the shul screen (layouts, colors, zmanim)

A big screen for the shul lobby or beis medrash: yahrzeits, davening times, shiurim, the day's zmanim, Parnas HaYom and announcements — in Hebrew, Yiddish or English. It updates by itself.

Before you start

  • An Owner or Admin login.

    Open the shul screen

    Click "Programs", then "Shul screen". Stay on "The screen" tab.

    Create the link

    Click "Create the screen link". You get the screen's link, "Open the screen ↗", "Download the Windows launcher" and two small previews (wide and tall).

    Create the link once; it stays the same.

    Language

    Under "Language & look" choose "עברית (Hebrew)", "אידיש (Yiddish)" or "English".

    Layouts

    Pick a "Layout for a wide screen (landscape)" — e.g. "Big + side", "Clock banner", "Candle wall", "One at a time" — and one for a tall screen. The screen picks the right one by itself depending on how the TV hangs. "See it ↗" shows a preview.

    Colors

    Choose the "Colors": Emerald, Navy, Black & gold, Burgundy, Royal purple, Slate, Light or Sky.

    Panels

    Under "What's on the screen" tick the panels you want (Yahrzeits, Davening times, Shiurim, Zmanim of the day, Parnas HaYom, Shul announcements) and number them. Number 1 gets the biggest spot.

    Zmanim

    Tick the zmanim to show (Alos, Netz, Latest Shema MG"A / GR"A, Chatzos, Plag, Candle lighting, Shkiah, Tzeis…). Choose "Zmanim for" your city and "Candle lighting: minutes before shkiah".

    Save

    Click "Save". The previews update. Open the screen on the shul TV (see "Show the shul screen full-screen on a Windows PC").

Tips

  • "Message along the bottom" is great for "נא לכבות את הטלפונים".
  • After nightfall the screen moves to the next Jewish day by itself.
  • "Make a new link" stops the old link working — use it if the link got out.

If something isn't working

The zmanim are for the wrong city.

Change "Zmanim for" and click Save. Note: this is the same location your Shabbos & Yom Tov settings use, and it sets your organization's time zone.

The screen stopped working after "Make a new link".

The old link stops on purpose. Open the new link on the TV, and download the Windows launcher again.

I don't see the settings.

Only Owners and Admins can change the screen.
