  1. 1

Add the spouse as a person

If the spouse isn't in People yet, click “Record” → “Person”, fill in the name (and Gender), phone and email, and click “Create donor”. Each spouse is their own person, so each can have their own gifts, cards and receipts.

Set the spouse's gender for the right labels.
  2. 2

    Link them as spouses

Open the first spouse → “Household & family” → find the other spouse → choose “Spouse” → “Link”.

    Link the spouse.
  3. 3

    Add the children

On a parent's page link each child with “Son / Daughter”. Children linked to either spouse count in the household.

Choose Son / Daughter for children.
  4. 4

    Open the household view

On the person's page, in the “Shul & dates” box, click “Household” at the top right. You see each person's giving by year, the household total, all open commitments and recent gifts.

“Household” in the Shul & dates box.

Tips

  • If they share one pledge, add the spouse to the pledge itself (see “One pledge shared by several people”).
  • Parents, siblings and in-laws are linked as family but are not part of the household totals.

If something isn't working

A child doesn't show in the household.

Only Spouse and Son / Daughter links count. Check that the child is linked as Son / Daughter on a parent's page, not the other way round.

A gift is on the wrong spouse.

Open the gift → “Fix a mistake” → “Belongs to (move to another person)”. See “Fix a gift entered on the wrong person”.
